Hematopathology is the study and diagnosis of diseases related to the blood, bone marrow, and lymphatic system. Hematopathologists play an important role in diagnosing a wide range of blood disorders, including anemias, clotting disorders, leukemias, lymphomas, and multiple myeloma. By examining blood smears, bone marrow, and lymph node biopsies, they identify cancers of the blood and lymphatic system and other blood disorders and help develop treatment plans for patients with blood cancers and immune system disorders.
